"Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding" Every Wednesday from June 5, 2019 - August 14, 2019
Total Cost: $540 for the 12 week group
*Only offered at the Overland Park location*
This is a 12 week group that first begins with a parent education night, as parents and philosophy of eating at home is a big part of feeding change!
This feeding group is for children ages 6 months-school age. Depending on the developmental age and oral skill of your child, they will be placed in group sessions to work on oral motor skills necessary to learn how to eat all textures of foods. The sessions are structured to introduce a variety of foods in a designed hierarchy. The focus is on age appropriate sensory play and exposure to a variety of foods types.
Below are wonderful candidates for these groups:
1. Those children who are experiencing a delay in spoon feeding or acceptance of table foods. 2. Children with Gastrostomy Feeding tubes who are not yet taking all nutrition by mouth. 3. “Picky Eaters” whose feeding behaviors are impacting their nutrition and/or growth. 4. Those kids with avoidance behaviors or feeding aversions to new tastes/textures of food. 5. Many others!
“This program integrates motor, oral, behavioral/learning, medical, sensory and nutritional factors and approaches in order to comprehensively evaluate and manage children with feeding/growth problems. It is based on, and grounded philosophically in, the “normal” development steps, stages and skills of feeding found in typically developing children.” –Dr. Kay Toomey, program creator
*SOS Feeding Approach is also available for individual sessions and may be more appropriate for your child. This process would begin with an informal evaluation and weekly treatment sessions to follow.
This group will be led by Kylie Murray, a licensed speech-language pathologist. Each child's rate is $200 for the 8 week group session. Missed class sessions are not reimbursed. Once classes begin, refunds are not issued.
Payments can be made by cash, check (Bringing Therapy Home, 13469 Switzer Road, Overland Park, KS 66213) or using a credit card at our center. Once payment has been received, you will be emailed a receipt.
