Elementary Groups

Elementary Social Language Groups

Groups are offered in Overland Park

January/February 2020 Groups: 8 weeks

$360 for the 8 week group

Thursdays: January 2, 2020 - February 20, 2020

4:30-6:30 p.m.
Elementary Ages
In this group class, children will be working together for a common goal, taking turns making decisions, creating a plan, and helping each other accomplish a task by problem solving. We will focus on reciprocal interactions, initiating tasks together, making comments during play and conversations, and responding to unexpected events (e.g. a child does not get the outcome they expected). Kids will learn how we work better as a group than we do alone.

Groups are designed for children in elementary school – this includes all children –typically developing children and children with needs (speech, language, fine motor, gross motor, or cognitive delays).

We utilize a visual schedule, movement, objects to represent vocabulary and concepts, visuals, step-by-step communicators, and a communication device so that all children, regardless of their developmental level, can participate.

At our Overland Park location, our
elementary group sessions are led by Marena Mitchell, a speech-language pathologist, additional speech-language pathologists, and two group assistants. We have a 1:4 adult/child ratio.

The total cost for the 8 week group session is $360. Missed classes are not reimbursed. Once classes begin, refunds are not issued.

Gluten and casein free snacks are provided for and dietary restrictions are honored.

If this is your child's first time attending a group at Bringing Therapy Home, you will be contacted by one of the facilitators to discuss your child’s strengths and specific needs of your child. This information will be utilized to plan and develop the activities used for the group sessions.  You do not need to receive current services from Bringing Therapy Home to register for the group classes.  Group classes are open to the community.

If your child has an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or receives services from an outside provider, please let us know what your child's goals are and we can embed the goals into the group activities.

To enroll your child in a group, please complete the registration form, located at the bottom of the page.  Once the registration form has been submitted, you will receive a confirmation email. A $50.00 non-refundable deposit is required with your registration (the amount will be applied toward the class fee; however, if you cancel your child's registration, the deposit is forfeited).

Payments can be made by cash, check (Bringing Therapy Home, 13469 Switzer Road, Overland Park, KS 66213) or using a credit card at our center.  Once payment has been received, you will be emailed a receipt.

If you need to set up a payment plan, please contact Bringing Therapy Home.  We want your child/family to receive the support they need and offer payment plans if needed.

If you have questions regarding the group classes offered, please contact Bringing Therapy Home.
