Parent Question: I have concerns with my child’s speech. He’s two and isn’t really talking. What should a two-year be doing at this age?
My Insight: This is a great question. There is a wide range for “typical” especially in children under 5. If you have friends with children within the same age range, you probably see quite a variety of skills. It's easy to wonder, "What is my child supposed to be doing?" One of my favorite resources to refer to parents is this website. It’s written from a speech-language pathologist and she provides an array of information. Specifically for your question, she has described the different age ranges. I think this website is a “must-have” for every person with a
child. This link provides specific skills your 2-year-old should demonstrate.
